The Lonely Journey of an Old Man

Assalamu 'Alaikum

The Lonely Journey of an Old Man

Not many knows the weight you carry
Not many knows the hopes you weigh on your shoulders.
Old man, remember me on the Day that matters
When nothing else matters for many

You were born to fight old man
As your father before that
I see the sinew of years on your face
Remember me old man, on the Day that matters.

I have no words for you old man
That you don’t already know
I do not know why you need to thirst in a sea of water
I do not know why you need to hunger in a feast of kings

Perhaps I have failed you old man
Perhaps I have failed you bad
Did I not tell my story well
Did I not touch the hearts I need to touch.

Walk old man, walk with the right of the righteous
Shake the world old man with the might of right
Did He not say ask,and you will be given
Is He not closer than the veins of your neck

In the twilight of your years you carry a dream that seems unreachable
But you believe, old man
The glitter of your eyes tells me you believe
The spirit of Uhud carries your step
For you know the beautiful options of those on His path.

Go old man, I walk with you on every step,
Bring back glad tidings old man
To ease the pain of what seems a thousand years.
